It all started in 1946, when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, Dwarf Grill, in Hapeville, Georgia. Credited with inventing Chick-fil- A boneless breast of chicken sandwich, Mr. Cathy founded Chick-fil- A, Inc. in the early 1960s and pioneered the establishment of restaurants in shopping malls with the opening of the first Chick-fil- A Restaurant at a mall in suburban Atlanta in 1967. Since then, Chick-fil- A has steadily grown to become the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States, based on domestic annual sales with over 1,850 locations in 41 states and Washington, D.C. In 2013, annual sales were over $5 billion. Chick-fil- A is still privately held and family-owned. With 46 consecutive years of positive sales growth, Chick-fil- A has set itself apart by pioneering innovations and delicious products—including the ever-popular Chick-fil- A® Chicken Sandwich.
In 2016 Owner/Operator, Howe Rice franchised his Chick-fil-A locations under the name Chicken and Rice LLC.
Chick-fil-A Virginia Center Marketplace opened in August of 2001. As Howe's (Owner/Operator) first free-standing store. The store went under a full remodel in September/October of 2016, allowing for more efficiency in the operations and creating an aesthetically pleasing dining experience for guests.
Chick-fil-A Center of the Universe opened in May of 2013, as Howe's 2nd free-standing store. Center of the Universe took the place of an old gas station, thus building the only Chick-fil-A in the Ashland community. Throughout the walls, as shown in the pictures above you can find words of encouragement and Bible verses, dedicating the store to the creator of all things.
